Preparing for a New Year!

As things may begin to slow down for many, work is revving up again for us here at  Curtis Licensing. Our team made it through the Thanksgiving holiday and like most Americans, many of us took advantage of the shopping deals. According to the National Retail Federation, more than 174 million Americans shopped in stores and online between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday beating the  previously estimated 164 million. Interestingly,  over 64 million shopped both online and in stores, over 58 million shopped only online, and over 51 million shopped only in stores.

While retailers continue to try to maximize their holiday sales, at Curtis, we already have our eyes on 2018. January 10-12th we will be attending the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and will introduce new artwork collections. Our “Girl  Power” collection combines images of women and/or girls with positive, empowering statements such as “It Is Our World” and “She Persisted”.

In a sometimes volatile world, we see a definite need for images that convey love, peace and well-being. “Love and Peace” pairs illustrations and photographs of sunsets, and inspiring artwork with zen-like expressions like “Be The Good” and  ‘Something Beautiful is on the Horizon”. A  playful twist on this theme is our “Peace, Love & Cabernet” and “Peace, Love & Hoppiness”.

We may soon also be incorporating “Ultra Violet”, Pantone’s choice for 2018 Color of the Year, in our designs.  The shade is described as “provocative” and  “original”.

December Licensee Spotlight: Pfaltzgraff

What better partner for a Saturday Evening Post program than a company almost as old as the Post itself! For almost 200 years, Pfaltzgraff has been a leading brand of everyday casual dinnerware, stemware, flatware, and kitchen and home accessories. Their beautifully designed lines feature highly decorative, collectible patterns. Phaltzgraff is part of Lifetime Brands, owner of brands such as Mikasa and Fitz and Floyd.  Our partnership with Pfaltzgraff began in 2015 when we began providing them with various creative new designs for their mug program. Since then, we have continued to design dozens of mugs for Phaltzgraff’s everyday line.  These mugs have been retailing at stores such as Macys, Kohl’s, Cabela’s and J.C.Penny.
